JYD IRONKIDS

Portage Junk Yard Dogs participate in IRONKIDS race in Whistler. To show support to their dad John Ferg in his Ironman competition, Megan and Brandon Ferg participated with 300 other Ironkids in a 1 mile run. The kids received an awesome Ironkids medal for their efforts.

The weather was perfect, the scenery outstanding and the course grueling but Dave Foley and John Ferg completed their second Ironman Canada in back to back years (2012 took them to Penticton).

The day started with a 2.4 mile Swim,  followed with a 112 mile Bike and a then 26.2 mile Run to finish off the day. 

Dave Foley finished with a time of 13:17:40

John Ferg ended his day of exercise at 14:29:18.

John is off on the bike after flatting out of transition.

Apologies for missing Michelle Strochen in the Dualthon category. It is reported that Michelle ran an extra 5k (in socks)with a blown out front tire. Not only that but she gored her foot with the chain ring and made three punctures. ( while she was running in socks). She was very happy to get back and get her shoes on to finish the last 5k with runners. Way to rise to the challenge Michelle

Another Action Packed Weekend August 17 & 18th

The Portage Junk Yard Dogs saw another action packed weekend with the Riding Mountain Triathlon Events as well as the Mountain Bike Provincials out at Birch.

Manitoba Mountain Bike Provincials August 18, 2013

This years Manitoba Mountain Bike Provincials will be held on August 18/13 @ Birch Ski Hill. Special thanks to Portage Junk Yard Dog member Trevor Shackleton for his efforts to get the race up and running and to all other Junk Yard Dogs members who are helping out behind the scenes!
